Nick Celestino and Yueer “Cindy” Feng grabbed first place honors at the Florida Junior Tour’s (FJT) 16-18 age division event at Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota, May 15-16.
Nick Celestino, of Sarasota, started the event with a two-over par 74 to trail by three strokes heading into the final round. In the final round, Celestino played a solid round of golf with an even par 36 on the front nine. Celestino carded a one under par 35 on the back nine which included three birdies to finish with a one-under par 71 for a tournament total of 145. Kentaro Toyota, of Lutz, also fired a 74 in the first round and followed that with a one-under par 71 in the final round to force a sudden death playoff. Celestino prevailed on the third playoff hole by making a par on the 10th hole. This is Celestino’s second career FJT victory. Sawyer Shaw, of West Palm Beach, finished alone in third place with a tournament total of two-over par 146.
In the Girls 16-18 Division, Yueer “Cindy” Feng, of Orlando, fired a final round even par 72 to win by seven strokes. Feng fired rounds of 67-72 for a tournament total of five-under par 139. Feng has won in all six events she has competed in during the 2009-2010 season, and this is her 18th career FJT victory. Finishing second in the Girls Division was Jordan Lippetz, of Bradenton, who carded rounds of 71-75 for a tournament total of two-over par 146. Grabbing third place honors was Alexandra Milan, from Lutz, with a tournament total of three-over par 147.
